Explanation: "If a bodhisattva" and so forth means that if a bodhisattva cannot obliterate marks and see without seeing, but instead gives rise to conceptual differentiation, seeing the true mark as one and sentient beings as many, it is called twoness. "This is failing to see the meaning of oneness and twoness": this is grasping at marks and falsely seeing oneness and twoness, unable to awaken and understand that: the ultimate does not contradict the conventional, so conforming to cultivation and realization there are many gates of liberation; the conventional does not contradict the ultimate, so the substance of the true mark is one and the myriad practices return to oneness. This is the meaning of the oneness and twoness of the ultimate and conventional truths. Next, the second section explains the ultimate truth (paramārtha-satya).
