Exposition: This passage explains both the noble and the ordinary. Because the three kinds of prajñā were previously explained separately to enable bodhisattvas to realize and cultivate in this way, although object and cognition are identical, delusion and enlightenment are still distinct. Therefore, the ordinary and the noble are contrasted below. However, the object seen by bodhisattvas is the real mark; "seeing cognition" is contemplating [wisdom]; "seeing teaching and receiving" is literal [prajñā]; meaning that with a signless mind they constantly realize, cultivate, and teach the former two, without destroying characteristics yet attaining non-abiding—this is a true bodhisattva. If the mind grasps at characteristics, the object seen is the six sensory dusts. "Seeing cognition" is the cognition of false conceptualization. "Seeing teaching and receiving" is teaching and receiving while clinging to characteristics. Being deluded about the nature and grasping at characteristics is the view of an ordinary fool.
