Explanation: That the kings and others scattered them again is why it says 'again'. 'Eighty-four thousand' symbolises ascending to the [first] bhūmi. As the sūtra above states: 'At the very first thought-instant, one is fully endowed with eighty-four thousand pāramitās', which refers to the first bhūmi. The older [version] called this 'scattering prajñāpāramitā flowers', deriving the name of the flower from the scattering mind. What is called here 'puṇḍarīka flower' is the white lotus, which manifests its name directly from that which is scattered. The undefiled correct cognition is identical in what it expresses and what it symbolises; its contemplation is unified from the first to the final bhūmis. Next is the second [section]: the flowers form a cloud-terrace.
