解住名者，生在佛家種性尊貴，此雖長養，已勝餘乘，名生貴住。了知業行生死涅槃者，了知自他善惡業行，此順生死、此順涅槃。如舊《花嚴》偈云「第四生貴真佛子，從諸賢聖正法生。有無諸法無所著，捨離生死出三界。」著有生死、著無涅槃，二俱不著，當出難矣。從此第五明具足方便住。

Exposition: Explaining the name of this abiding: born into the Buddha's family with a noble gotra, though still being nurtured, they already surpass the other vehicles; hence it is called the abiding of noble birth. 'They fully comprehend karmic actions, saṃsāra, and nirvāṇa' means fully comprehending the good and evil karmic actions of self and others: this accords with saṃsāra, and this accords with nirvāṇa. As a verse in the old Avataṃsaka Sūtra says: 'The fourth, of noble birth, is a true child of the Buddha, / Born from all the worthies, nobles, and the true Dharma. / Toward existing and non-existing dharmas, having no attachment, / Abandoning saṃsāra to transcend the three realms.' Attaching to existence brings saṃsāra; attaching to non-existence brings nirvāṇa; attaching to neither, one will transcend difficulties. From here is the fifth, explaining the abiding of fully equipped expedients.
