Explaining the name of the practice: Constantly gathering superior roots of goodness through great vows is called the practice of difficult attainment; desire (chanda), resolute intention (adhimokṣa), faith, thought, mindfulness, and so forth are its intrinsic nature. "Not seeking karmic retribution": cultivating superior practices oneself without hoping for future fruits, benefiting and gladdening sentient beings without seeking their recompense. From here, the ninth clarifies the practice of good dharmas.
