3.268

解此名者，拔濟為救、加衛為護，於所救護照解平等，名離相也。又悲能救護、智能離相，離相之行為迴向也。四無量心者，能救護心也。能破諸闇者，拔濟有情，破煩惱闇。從此第二明不壞迴向。

Explaining this name: rescuing and delivering is 'saving'; guarding and defending is 'protecting'. Illuminating and understanding equality regarding those saved and protected is called 'free from characteristics'. Moreover, compassion can save and protect, and wisdom can be free from characteristics; the practice of being free from characteristics constitutes dedication. 'The four immeasurables' are the minds capable of rescuing and protecting. 'Are able to destroy all darkness' means rescuing and delivering sentient beings and destroying the darkness of afflictions. Hereafter is the second [part], explaining the indestructible dedication.
