Explanation: These twelve syllables have a profound and esoteric meaning, known only to a buddha. If explained syllable by syllable, they can also be termed the purity of the three karmas. The syllable-gate a expresses that all phenomena are originally non-arising. The syllable-gate ra expresses the meaning that all phenomena are free from defilement. The syllable-gate ṇe expresses the meaning that all phenomena are without dispute. Knowing that phenomena do not arise, one is free from defilement; being free from defilement, one attains the state of non-dispute; hence it is called araṇe. The syllable-gate ka expresses the meaning that all phenomena are uncreated. The syllable-gate ra expresses the meaning that all phenomena are pure. The syllable-gate ṇe expresses the meaning that all phenomena are without dispute. Knowing that phenomena are uncreated, one is pure; being pure, one attains the state of non-dispute; hence it is called karaṇe. The syllable-gate a expresses that all phenomena are originally tranquil. The syllable-gate ra expresses the meaning that all phenomena are undefiled. The syllable-gate ṇa expresses the meaning that all phenomena are without dispute. Knowing that phenomena are tranquil, one is undefiled; being undefiled, one attains the state of non-dispute; hence it is called araṇa. The syllable-gate ka expresses that all phenomena are uncreated. The syllable-gate ra expresses that all phenomena are non-conceptual. The syllable-gate ṇe expresses the meaning that all phenomena are unmoving. Knowing that phenomena are uncreated, one is non-conceptual; being non-conceptual, one is unmoving; being unmoving, one realizes mahāprajñāpāramitā and attains the non-abiding path; hence it is called karaṇe. Next, the third section concludes by clarifying the virtues of fruition.
