Exposition: 'The aeon-fire blazes fiercely' explains the calamity of fire. Fascicle two of the *Yogācārabhūmi* explains the three great calamities, which arise in succession as fire, water, and wind. Pointing to the first of the three, this is the fire calamity. 'The great trichiliocosm is destroyed together' clarifies that an entire great trichiliocosm is formed and destroyed together. The lower two lines mean that the nine mountains and eight oceans, each numbering one hundred billion, are destroyed without remainder. Formation, abiding, destruction, and emptiness arise in succession; this clarifies the aeon of destruction, and the other three may be inferred accordingly. Fascicle twelve of the *Abhidharmakośa* and fascicle two of the *Yogācārabhūmi* both explain this extensively. From here, the second part shows the impermanence of sentient beings.
