The commentary explains: In the stages of the three worthies, all are called noble embryos; citing this one subsumes the rest, for all are noble embryos. What is called 'embryo' takes one's own seed as cause and good friends as condition; hearing the true Dharma flowing forth from the pure dharmadhātu, one practices and nurtures it, and upon the path of seeing on the first bhūmi, one is born into the family of the Buddha. Next is the second [part], explaining the nature lineage. In this there are three parts: first, marking the stage and discerning its characteristics; second, correctly explaining the cultivation of practice; third, concluding with surpassing inverted conceptions. First is the first, marking the stage and discerning its characteristics.
