Commentary: Regarding 'quiescence': it refers to suchness. Wisdom realizing quiescence is called quiescent kṣānti. As kṣānti of kṣānti, its name is obtained through two explanations. According to the sūtra below, 'upon entering this bhūmi, one severs the obstacle to supernormal powers,' which will be fully explained below. Regarding 'buddhas and bodhisattvas': this brings up the persons capable of the kṣānti. When this bodhisattva first enters the tenth bhūmi, it is called the Cloud of Dharma; the later stage of the tenth bhūmi is called virtual awakening. Regarding 'equally rely on this kṣānti': although there is a distinction between superior and inferior between this [bodhisattva] and a buddha, it is the same kṣānti. Hereafter, the second [part] directly explains cultivation. Within this there are three: first, explaining the lower and upper kṣāntis; next, explaining virtual and wondrous awakening; and last, explaining the three bodies of the buddha. First, the first explains the lower and upper kṣāntis.
