Commentary: "All that is sought" is a general indication. Here there are seven: 1. seeking official rank, because one attains glorious position; 2. seeking wealth, because one attains blessings and profit; 3. seeking sons and daughters, because one obtains them all; 4. seeking wisdom and understanding, because one attains superior mundane and supramundane knowledge and vision; 5. "traveling about" means seeking to go and come, because both two-footed and four-footed beings are safe and secure; 6. karmic rewards among humans; 7. karmic rewards among devas. All the above are due to the majestic power of receiving, upholding, reading, and reciting the sūtra, whereby one's wishes are fulfilled. As the Ratnamegha Sūtra says: "For example, there is a medicinal tree named Sudarśana. If sentient beings obtain its root, trunk, branches, leaves, flowers, or fruit, or see its color, smell its scent, taste its flavor, or touch it, then according to whichever of these ten they obtain, their illness is completely cured." Therefore, among the ten dharmic practices regarding the sūtra, according to one's upholding and reading, mundane and supramundane wishes are all fulfilled. From here, the second part explains liberation from distress and calamity.
