1.40

鬼傍生人天，各隨其所應，
等事心異故，許義非真實。
於過去事等，夢像二影中，
雖所緣非實，而境相成就。

To ghosts, animals, humans, and gods,
Each according to what is appropriate,
Because for the same thing their minds differ,
It is accepted that the referent is not real.
Regarding past matters and so forth,
Within dreams and the two reflections [in mirrors and water],
Although the object of cognition is not real,
Yet the appearance of the object is established.
