2.8

此十三住，七地所攝，一、種姓地，二、勝解行地，三、淨勝意樂地，此之三地即初三住；四、行正行地，即次六住；五、決定地，即第十住，墮在第三決定中故；六、決定行地，即第十一住；七、倒究竟地，即第十二、第十三住，因果二中皆究竟故。

These thirteen stages (vihāra) are subsumed under seven grounds (bhūmi): first, the ground of lineage (gotra-bhūmi); second, the ground of resolution and practice (adhimukticaryā-bhūmi); third, the ground of pure superior intention (śuddhādhyāśaya-bhūmi) — these three grounds are the first three vihāras; fourth, the ground of practicing correct practice (caryā-pratipatti-bhūmi), which is the subsequent six vihāras; fifth, the ground of determination (niyata-bhūmi), which is the tenth vihāra, because it falls within the third determination; sixth, the ground of determined practice (niyata-caryā-bhūmi), which is the eleventh vihāra; seventh, the ground of arrival at the ultimate (niṣṭhāgata-bhūmi), which is the twelfth and thirteenth vihāras, because they are ultimate in both cause and result.
