The Praise says: The preceding clarified possessing virtue; this clarifies destroying evil. Having faith, studying, realizing, and expounding all eliminate multiple sufferings. Therefore the *Mahāprajñāpāramitā-sūtra* states: If one can perform the ten dharmic practices regarding this sūtra, no hindrance or obscuration can defile him; though he may commit the most grave evil karma, he will transcend all evil destinies. Even if he were to kill all sentient beings in the triple world, he would never on this account fall into the hells, animal realm, or ghost realm; even if he dwells in the thicket of all defilements, like a lotus flower he will never be stained by them, and will always be joined with all superior matters. Toward dharmas and sentient beings, he will obtain unimpeded knowledge and skillfully enter into all equanimities; he will be able to subdue wrath and the like in both himself and others, and present enemies will all generate a compassionate mind; he will constantly see all Buddhas and attain knowledge of past lives; what he hears of the true Dharma he will totally retain without forgetting; superior joys will constantly be present before him, and he will constantly and diligently advance in cultivating all good dharmas; evil Māras and non-Buddhists will not be able to detain him; the Four Heavenly Kings and others will constantly follow and protect him; he will never die an unnatural death or suffer misfortunes and calamities; the Buddhas and bodhisattvas will constantly guard and protect him together, causing good to increase and evil to decrease at all times; he will be reborn in the Buddha-lands according to his vows, and all the way to bodhi will not fall into evil destinies; he will swiftly be able to fulfill all bodhisattva practices and quickly realize unsurpassable, right, and equal bodhi, and whatever his heart desires will without fail be accomplished. Thus, when the fourfold assembly of the royal city (Rājagṛha) merely chanted and recited it, Māra was subdued; when the Thousand-Eyed One (Indra) in the heavenly palace first received and held it, the adversaries were routed. How much more so when with deep sincerity and earnestness within oneself, the cause is planted and the fruit perfected? That one should fail to be pulled out of the five destinies to become a teacher, and step across the ten directions to become a lord—such a thing has never been.
