From here below is the second part, discerning the contemplated object. In this there are two parts: first, discerning emptiness by means of the four propositions; and second, revealing the marks of emptiness based on the six meanings. In the former there are two: first, indicating the person who receives the teaching; and second, directly discerning emptiness. This is the indication of the person. In Sanskrit, *Śāriputra*, or pronounced *Śāriphuttara*; *śāri* is translated as "myna bird," and *putra* is translated as "son." Because his mother's eyes were clear and dark blue, resembling the eyes of a myna bird, the mother was named "Myna Bird." The *Prajñāpāramitā Sūtra of Brilliant Transubstantiation* calls him the "Son of the Heron"; or he is called *Upatisya*, which is a title derived from his father. The old translation as "Son of the Body" (*Shenzi*) is erroneous.
