1.59

問：「豈不法執不能發業亦非潤生，無漏聖道非苦、集諦，如何經說無漏為因、無明為緣？」答：「如《成唯識》第八卷說，斷法執及資助緣故，說無漏為因、無明為緣，理實即前感分段業及所感果，由資力故，轉勝、轉妙以為變易，廣說如彼。」

Question: "Can it not be that attachment to dharmas can neither generate karma nor moisten rebirth, and the uncontaminated noble mārga is neither the truth of duḥkha nor samudaya—how then does the sūtra state that the uncontaminated is the cause and ignorance is the condition?" Answer: "As stated in fascicle 8 of the Vijñaptimātratāsiddhi, because of severing attachment to dharmas and serving as supportive conditions, the uncontaminated is said to be the cause and ignorance the condition; in principle, it is actually the previous karma inducing samsaric transmigration and the fruit induced by it which, through supportive power, turn more superior and more wondrous to become transformation [death], as explained in detail there."
