立斯題者，示無胸臆爾。謂此記文，是皆佛祖之靈蛇夜光、赤野丹淵、明月虧全者也，第以朱絲金縷貫連成記，有類蒼梧之珠丘焉。

In establishing this title, I demonstrate that none of this derives from my own mind. That is to say, this text of notes consists entirely of the wondrous gems and night-shining pearls of the Buddhas and patriarchs, the vermilion fields and cinnabar depths, the waning and waxing full moons; it merely strings them together with red thread and golden cords to form a record, resembling the pearl mounds of Cangwu.
