From "From this it is known" onward: second, revealing the intent, divided into two: first, extensive and condensed depend on capacity. The commentary master said: "As capacities and conditions respond differently, the holy responses therefore differ." The treatise says that the extensive arises from the capacity of faculties, and the condensed arises from the faculties' capacity. The Tathāgata then responds to them with the extensively spoken sūtras and the concisely spoken sūtras; therefore it says, "Extensive and condensed follow conditions." Conditions are the conditions of capacity. From "transcending words" onward: second, the principle being perfect, they appear together. The commentary master also said: "Though the holy responses differ, they are inconceivably one." A sūtra says: "Like a foolish man who fears empty space and runs away, though he passes through eons numerous as the sands of the Ganges, he cannot escape; wherever he reaches, he does not depart from empty space." Truly because the wondrous lineage of true emptiness has a nature that is nowhere absent, it can appear together.
