From "The second" downward is the second [major section]: clarifying subsumption under the Piṭakas, which has two parts. First, subsumption under the Piṭakas. The "three piṭakas" refer to sūtras, vinaya, and treatises. They are universally called "piṭaka" (baskets/treasuries) because they contain and subsume. That is to say, they subsume all the meanings that ought to be known, for subsuming means containing. "Sūtras" (qijing) means tallying with principle and tallying with capacity, threading through and gathering for transformation; that is, threading through verbal teachings and gathering and holding those who are transformed, for a sūtra is not the other two. As for sūtras subsuming two piṭakas, they are divided according to the Great and Small [Vehicles]. Since this text does not belong to the two vehicles, it is included in the Bodhisattva Piṭaka.
