"Venerated by gods and humans": the four and a half stanzas from here downward verse the fourth, the gate of the present Buddhas, above. In the prose above there were three parts: first, explaining the intention behind the meaning of unfolding the three and revealing the One; second, directly explaining unfolding the three and revealing the One; third, concluding and establishing it. Now, these stanzas verse only the first two and do not verse the third conclusion. First, the stanza and a half "Venerated by gods and humans" first verses the first: present Buddhas, for the sake of the meaning of the three and the One, respond by appearing in the world. The latter three stanzas verse the second, directly explaining the meaning of unfolding the three and revealing the One. In the prose above, it first explained unfolding the three and later revealed the One; now, within these three stanzas it is also divided into two: the one stanza "Knowing the foremost quiescence" first verses revealing the One, versifying only oneness of teaching. Second, the two stanzas "Knowing the various courses of sentient beings" invert the order to verse unfolding the three above. These two stanzas naturally have two parts: the first stanza and one line first explain that the present Buddhas of the ten directions thoroughly discern the capacities of the persons of the three vehicles; second, the three lines below the words "By various causes and conditions" directly verse unfolding the three.
