4.39

問者言：「若使索小與大，亦可索大與小。」解釋者言：「法相不然。云何？苟在無別，三小唯是一大。今者與大，由大乘機發，是故會昔三小成今一大，是故今日與大道理可然。」

The questioner says: "If demanding the small results in giving the great, could demanding the great also result in giving the small?" The commentator says: "The nature of phenomena is not like that. Why? If there is no distinction, the three small are simply the one great. Now, the giving of the great is due to the arousal of the capacity for the Great Vehicle; therefore, converging the former three small completes the present one great. Thus today giving the great is logically justifiable."
