明有索無索第四（有一問答），七種學人皆無索車之義，阿羅漢、辟支佛、大力菩薩三無學皆有索義也。長者本道三車在門外，但出門外三車相與，今七種學人猶在門內，云何就門內索車？若使出門外覓車不得，可就父求索，斷三界因果未盡，云何已索盡、無生智？但三無學人以出三界外，于時以理惑教，故有索義也。

Fourth, clarifying demanding and not demanding (having one question and answer): none of the seven kinds of learners have the meaning of demanding the carts; the three non-learners—arhats, pratyekabuddhas, and great-power bodhisattvas—all have the meaning of demanding. The elder originally said that the three carts were outside the gate, and only upon exiting outside the gate would the three carts be given; now, the seven kinds of learners are still inside the gate, so how could they demand carts from inside the gate? If, upon exiting outside the gate, they sought carts and could not find them, they could seek and demand them from the father; but before they have exhausted the causes and effects of the three realms, how could they already demand the knowledges of exhaustion and non-arising? Only the three non-learners have already exited outside the three realms, and at that time, because they doubt the teaching on the basis of principle, they have the meaning of demanding."
