5.40

但解有兩種，一者自以智慧明見法相，此則法行人，呼為見解，二者不自見理憑師謂爾，此則是信行人，名為信解也。今此品中明四大聲聞領開三顯一之義，信同歸莫二之理，從信得解仍詺為信解品。

Now, understanding has two kinds: first, clearly discerning the characteristics of phenomena by one’s own wisdom, which is characteristic of the Dharma-follower and is called “understanding through insight”; second, not seeing the principle by oneself but relying upon a teacher and accepting it as so, which is characteristic of the faith-follower and is named “understanding through faith”. Now, in this chapter, it explains that the four great voice-hearers assimilate the meaning of opening the three and revealing the One, having faith in the principle of identical convergence without duality; since their understanding arises from faith, it is accordingly named the “Faith and Understanding Chapter”.
