問者又言：「今取善習因所成眾生以為能稟，為當止取善習因有增長義耶？所成眾生亦有增長義。」解釋又言：「眾生是假名，假名無別體，以法為體。今習因善是實法，此法成眾生，但習因善有增長，眾生是假名不當增長不增長，但有名用而已也。」

The questioner asks again: “Now you take sentient beings formed from causes of good habits to be that which can receive. Does only the cause of good habits have the meaning of growth, or do the sentient beings thus formed also have the meaning of growth?” The commentator explains again: “'Sentient being' is a provisional designation. A provisional designation has no separate substance; it takes dharma as its substance. Now the good of the habituated cause is a real dharma; this dharma constitutes the sentient being. Only the good of the habituated cause has growth; as a provisional designation, the sentient being should not be said to grow or not grow; it has only name and function.”
