From "and spoke verses, saying" onward, fourteen lines of verse versify the above proper harbouring of doubts and entreaty. Above there were originally two: first, explaining the doubt; second, the proper entreaty. Now within these fourteen lines of verse, they are also divided into two: first, there are eleven lines of verse versifying the above doubt; second, from "We, hearing from the Buddha" onward, three lines versify the above proper entreaty. However, within the doubt above there were two: first, explaining the doubt by exposition by dharma; second, explaining the doubt by exposition through parable. Now within the eleven lines of verse they are also divided into two: first, there are five lines versifying the exposition by dharma; and the remaining six lines versify the exposition through parable. From "We, hearing from the Buddha" onward, these three lines are the second [part] within the verses, which versify the second [part], the proper entreaty, within the prose above. However, within the proper entreaty above there were originally two: first, explaining that Maitreya recounts that he himself has understood; second, properly entreating on behalf of those who have not understood. Now these three lines are also divided into two: first, there is a half line of verse versifying the first, explaining that Maitreya recounts that he himself has understood; second, there remain two and a half lines versifying the above second, properly entreating on behalf of those who have not understood.
