8.53

第二偈頌，頌長行，不頌第一品人。此下十九行半偈分為四段：第一五行半偈頌上第二品人；「若能持此經者」，此下三行頌上第三品人；「若有信解心」此下又有三行，超頌上第五品人；「況復持此經兼持戒」，此下有八行，追頌上第四品人也。

The second, the verse section, versifies the prose, but does not versify the person of the first grade. The nineteen and a half lines of verse below are divided into four sections: the first five and a half lines of verse versify the person of the second grade above; from "If one can uphold this sūtra", the three lines below versify the person of the third grade above; from "If one possesses a mind of faith and understanding", the three lines below skip ahead to versify the person of the fifth grade above; from "How much more so if one upholds this sūtra and concurrently keeps the precepts", the eight lines below trace back to versify the person of the fourth grade above.
