The siddhāntas are the Buddha's wisdom; matched against sharp and dull capacities, they become four kinds. Sharp people, upon hearing the worldly [siddhānta], understand the supreme truth; for them, matching against explaining the title and discerning the substance is quite sufficient. If dull people have not yet awakened, it is further necessary to produce good for people and apply therapeutics to shatter evil, and only then do they enter the supreme truth; thus all four are fully used. The intention of the fivefold profound meaning embraces both the sharp and the dull. The method of the four siddhāntas is specifically for the dull. Their matched meanings are identical, but their sequences differ.
