《釋論》云「四悉檀攝八萬法藏、十二部經」，《法華》何得不預耶！《中論》通申，理宜須用。若具引論，博而未巧。今取論題，申於五章，「中」字申體，「觀」字申宗，「論」字申用。《纓珞》云「破法方便、立法方便、利益眾生方便。」《論》有研覈、破執，立三寶、四諦，得四沙門果，故知「論」字申用。中觀理不可思議，申「妙」。觀境是權實，申「法」。觀智是因果，申「蓮華」。觀詮，申「經」。論之三字，合四悉檀，以對五義，通申意顯。若更以論申餘經者，取偈初句申三藏，次句申通，次句申別，次句申圓。《法華》又為第四句所申也。豈止兩論申此五章，五章通申諸經論也。

The *Commentary* says, "The four siddhāntas encompass the eighty-thousand dharma storehouses and the twelve divisions of scriptures"; how could the *Lotus Sūtra* not be included among them? The *Mūlamadhyamakakārikā* broadly expounds [them], and by principle it ought to be used. If we were to quote the treatise in full, it would be broad but lack skillfulness. Now we take the title of the treatise to expound the five headings: the word "Middle" expounds the substance; the word "Contemplation" expounds the central purport; the word "Treatise" expounds the function. The *Yingluo jing* says: "The expedient of destroying dharmas, the expedient of establishing dharmas, and the expedient of benefiting sentient beings." The treatise examines and shatters attachments, establishes the Three Jewels and the Four Noble Truths, and attains the four fruits of the śramaṇa; hence we know that the word "Treatise" expounds the function. The principle of the middle contemplation is inconceivable, which expounds "Profound". The object of contemplation is the provisional and the real, which expounds "Dharma". The wisdom of contemplation is cause and effect, which expounds "Lotus". The expressive words of contemplation expound "Sūtra". The three words of the treatise, combining with the four siddhāntas to match against the five meanings, clearly show their broad expounding. If one further uses the treatise to expound other sūtras, one takes the first line of the verse to expound the Tripiṭaka [teaching], the next line to expound the shared [teaching], the next line to expound the distinctive [teaching], and the next line to expound the perfect [teaching]. The *Lotus Sūtra* is also expounded by the fourth line. How could it be that only two treatises expound these five headings? The five headings broadly expound all sūtras and treatises.
