問：為人生善，秖應生善，那復斷惡？答：為人者，生善是舊、是正，斷惡是傍、是新。治中、治惡是舊、是正，生善是新、是傍（云云）。

Question: If [the siddhānta] for individuals produces good, it should only produce good; why does it also sever evil? Answer: In [the siddhānta] for individuals, producing good is primary and direct, while severing evil is secondary and new. In therapeutics, curing evil is primary and direct, while producing good is new and secondary; and so forth.
