1.34

當知《華嚴》之譬，與《涅槃》義同。三子、三田、三馬等譬，皆先菩薩，次及二乘，後則平等凡聖（云云）。

One should know that the parables of the Avataṃsaka share the same meaning as the Nirvāṇa [Sūtra]. The parables of the three sons, the three fields, the three horses, and so forth, all address bodhisattvas first, next reach the two vehicles, and finally equalize ordinary beings and sages (and so forth).
