海是坎德，萬流歸故，同一鹹故。《法華》亦爾，佛所證得，萬善同歸，同乘佛乘。江湖川流，無此大德，餘經亦爾，故《法華》最大也。

The ocean has the virtue of the kan trigram, because myriad streams converge into it, and because they are of the same salty flavor. The Lotus is also like this: what the Buddha realized is where myriad goods converge together, riding together upon the buddha-yāna. Rivers, lakes, and streams do not possess this great virtue; other sūtras are also like this, and therefore the Lotus is the greatest.
