1.61

欲說此法，先以神力駭動，故言一切自在神力。既見變通，醒悟渴仰，得為說教，教詮實相，故言祕密之藏也。稟教修行，即有因果，故言甚深之事也。欲分別四義與餘經同異，次明教相耳。

Wishing to expound this Dharma, he first startled and moved them with supernatural power, and thus it is called 'all sovereign supernatural powers'. Having seen the transformations, they were awakened and full of yearning, so that he could expound the teaching for them. The teaching interprets the real mark, and thus it is called the 'secret treasury'. Receiving the teaching and practicing it, there are causes and fruits, and thus it is called 'exceedingly profound matters'. Wishing to distinguish the four meanings as to their sameness and difference with other sūtras, he next clarified the characteristics of the teaching.
