二、約本門明教開合者，借迹知本，本亦復如是。復次本門中，明或示己身，或示他身，或說己法，或說他法。己身是佛法界像，他身是九法界像，己法是圓頓佛之知見，降此已下，皆是他法，雖示種種形，欲令度脫，故雖說種種道，其實為一乘，此即開合意也。

Second, clarifying the opening and merging of teachings in terms of the original source: borrowing the traces to know the original source, the original source is also like this. Furthermore, in the original source, it is clarified that [the Buddha] either manifests his own body or manifests other bodies, or speaks his own dharma or speaks other dharmas. His own body is the image of the buddha dharma realm; other bodies are the images of the nine dharma realms. His own dharma is the vision and knowledge of the buddha of the perfect and sudden; below this, all are other dharmas. Though manifesting various forms wishing to bring about liberation, and thus although expounding various paths, they are in truth for the sake of the single vehicle. This is the meaning of opening and merging.
