別教增數行者。如善財入法界中說於一善知識所，各聞一法為行，或如幻三昧，或投巖赴火，算砂相黶，發菩提心等，種種一行，皆云：「佛法如海，我唯知此一法門，餘非所知。」乃至一百一十善知識，一一法門皆如是。是一一行皆破無明，入深境界。若二法、三法、百千萬億等法，亦應如是（云云）。

Regarding the practice of numerical progression in the distinctive teaching: as told in Sudhana's entry into the dharma realm, in the presence of each good spiritual friend he heard a single dharma as practice—such as the illusion-like samādhi, leaping from cliffs and plunging into fire, counting sand grains to ascertain blemishes, generating the bodhicitta, and so forth. Regarding the manifold single practices, each said: 'The Buddhadharma is like an ocean; I only know this single Dharma gate, and the rest is not known to me.' This applies all the way through the one hundred and ten good spiritual friends, with each and every Dharma gate being like this. Each and every one of these practices destroys ignorance and enters deep realms. If it is two dharmas, three dharmas, or hundreds, thousands, tens of thousands, or millions of dharmas, it should also be understood in this way (and so forth).
