中藥草位者，即二乘也。此就習果判位。舊云：「《成論》探明大乘，解菩薩義。」此則不然。論主自云：「今正自明三藏中實義。」實義者，空是。人師豈可誣論主耶？此即空門明二十七賢聖斷伏之位。《阿毘曇》有門明七賢、七聖斷伏之位。委在兩論。

The stage of the middling medicinal herbs refers to the two vehicles. This classifies their stages in terms of the fruit of repeated practice. In the past it was said: 'The Tattvasiddhi-śāstra explores and clarifies the Mahāyāna, explaining the meaning of bodhisattvas.' This is not so. The author of the treatise himself said: 'I am now properly clarifying the real meaning within the Tripiṭaka.' The real meaning is emptiness. How could human teachers slander the treatise author? This refers to the stages of severance and suppression of the twenty-seven worthy and noble ones explained through the gate of emptiness. The Abhidharma uses the gate of existence to explain the stages of severance and suppression of the seven worthies and seven nobles. The details are in the two treatises.
