三總相四念處者，前已別相念慧破四顛倒，今深細觀慧，總破四倒。或境總觀總，境別觀總，境總觀別。或總二陰、三陰、四陰、五陰，皆名總相觀。是中，亦巧方便，能生正勤、如意、七覺、八道，疾入後法，故名總相念處位也。

3. The four stations of mindfulness of general characteristics: previously, the wisdom of mindfulness on specific characteristics destroyed the four inversions; now, with deep and subtle contemplative wisdom, one generally destroys the four inversions. Either the object is general and the contemplation is general; the object is specific and the contemplation is general; or the object is general and the contemplation is specific. Or, generally contemplating two aggregates, three aggregates, four aggregates, or five aggregates—all are called contemplation of general characteristics. Herein, by skillful means, one can also generate right exertions, bases of psychic power, seven factors of awakening, and the eightfold path, quickly entering the subsequent dharmas; hence this is called the stage of the stations of mindfulness of general characteristics.
