若證阿那含，各復有五及七種般、八種般。五種般者：中般、生般、行般、不行般、上流般也。七種者，開中般為三種也。八種般者，五如前，更有現般、無色般、不定般（云云）。

If one realizes [the fruition of] anāgāmin, each has five, seven, or eight kinds of parinirvāṇa. The five kinds of parinirvāṇa are: parinirvāṇa in the intermediate state, parinirvāṇa upon rebirth, parinirvāṇa with exertion, parinirvāṇa without exertion, and parinirvāṇa upstream. The seven kinds expand parinirvāṇa in the intermediate state into three kinds. As for the eight kinds of parinirvāṇa: five are as before, with parinirvāṇa in the present life, parinirvāṇa in the formless realm, and indeterminate parinirvāṇa added (and so forth).
