諸聖上位，非凡能測，豈可妄說？粗知大意者，為破行人增上慢心。又為銷經文，引物悕向，不可偏執，諍競是非也。

The higher stages of the sages cannot be fathomed by ordinary people; how could one speak of them recklessly? Having a rough understanding of their general meaning is done to destroy the arrogance of practitioners. It is also done to explicate the texts of the sūtras and guide beings to aspire toward them; one must not cling one-sidedly and dispute over right and wrong.
