4.65

黃色三昧破化樂天有，赤色三昧破他化自在天有，白色三昧破初禪有，皆是果報。白等，例青色三昧，大意可解。白色三昧者，初禪離五欲為白；未離覺觀故是黑。見思、塵沙、無明等黑，破此諸黑，修諸行白，自成三昧。又成他三昧，如上說。

The yellow-color samādhi destroys the existence of the Nirmāṇarati Heaven, the red-color samādhi destroys the existence of the Paranirmitavaśavartin Heaven, and the white-color samādhi destroys the existence of the first dhyāna; these are all retribution. As for white and the rest, by analogy with the blue-color samādhi, the general sense can be understood. As for the white-color samādhi: the first dhyāna is white because it is free from the five desires; because it is not yet free from coarse examination and subtle investigation, it is black. Views and thoughts, dust and sand, fundamental ignorance, and the like are black; destroying these blacks and cultivating the white of various practices, he personally perfects the samādhi. He also perfects the samādhi for others, as explained above.
