5.119

如是教乘，不縱不橫，五品所乘，到於似解。如是行乘，不縱不橫，似解所乘，到於十住。如是證乘，不縱不橫，十住所乘，到於妙覺薩婆若中住，故名妙乘。又云：「是乘微妙，清淨第一。」故瓦官建講，人夢聽者駕乘闐門而出；彼處建講，人夢黃衣滿路。以相則之，邪正明矣！

Such a vehicle of teaching, neither vertical nor horizontal, is ridden by the five grades to arrive at resemblance understanding. Such a vehicle of practice, neither vertical nor horizontal, is ridden by resemblance understanding to arrive at the ten abodes. Such a vehicle of realization, neither vertical nor horizontal, is ridden by the ten abodes to arrive at and abide in the sarvajñā of wondrous enlightenment; therefore it is named the subtle vehicle. Furthermore, it says: 'This vehicle is subtle, pure, and foremost.' Therefore, when lectures were established at Waguan Temple, people dreamt of listeners driving carriages crowding out of the gate; when lectures were established at that other place, people dreamt of yellow robes filling the roads. Taking the signs to examine them, the heterodox and the orthodox are clear!
