名別義圓者，如五十二位，名與別同。而初、中、後位，圓融妙實，隨自意語，非是教道方便，依義不依語，應從圓判位也。

Regarding 'the name is distinctive and the meaning is perfect,' as in the fifty-two stages, the names are identical to those of the distinctive [teaching]. Yet the initial, intermediate, and final stages are all perfectly interfused, wondrous, and real, words spoken in accord with [the Buddha's] own mind, not skillful means of pedagogical teaching. Relying on the meaning rather than the words, one should classify the stages according to the perfect [teaching].
