5.83

前以菩薩同凡味，故知是三藏。今以菩薩同支佛，故知是通。若不作通釋譬義，何由可解（云云）。

Previously, because the bodhisattva was equated with the ordinary flavor, we knew it was the tripiṭaka [teaching]. Now, because the bodhisattva is equated with the pratyekabuddha, we know it is the shared [teaching]. If one does not interpret the meaning of the parables by applying the shared [teaching], how could it be understood? And so forth.
