遠論利益，經語還多。第一云：「從久遠劫來，讚示涅槃道，生死苦永盡，我常如是說。」第二云：「我昔於二萬億佛所，教無上道。」第三云：「宿世因緣，吾今當說。」定據何文耶？

Regarding the discussion of ancient benefits, the words of the sūtra are numerous. The first says: "Since long kalpas ago, I have praised and shown the path of nirvāṇa, that the suffering of birth and death is forever ended; I have always spoken thus." The second says: "In the past, at the place of twenty thousand kotis of buddhas, I taught the unexcelled path." The third says: "The causes and conditions of past lives, I shall now declare." Which text should definitely be relied upon?
