6.82

又諸經妙同麁異，麁有二種：一、難轉麁；二、易轉麁。易轉者，於諸經中已得為妙。難轉者，今於《法華》，無復兩麁，但有一妙。唯一大佛事因緣，曾無他事，假同九界神通。眾生，自謂他事；於佛，常是佛事。客作自謂賤人；長者審知是子。此即相待神通妙也。

Moreover, across the various sūtras, the subtle is identical while the crude differs. There are two kinds of crude: first, the hard-to-transform crude; second, the easy-to-transform crude. The easy-to-transform has already become subtle in the various sūtras. As for the hard-to-transform, now in the Lotus there are no longer two crudes, but only the one subtle. There is only the one great cause and condition of the Buddha's work and never any other matter; it merely provisionally resembles the supernormal powers of the nine realms. Sentient beings themselves think it is another matter; for the Buddha, it is constantly the Buddha's work. The hired laborer thinks of himself as a base person; the elder thoroughly knows he is his son. This is the subtlety of supernormal powers in relative terms.
