6.95

授記者，果為心期名記，聖言說與名授。授記有二種：若與諸菩薩授佛記莂，是大乘中授記。若記近因、近果，是小乘中記也。

Regarding vyākaraṇa (prophecy): when the fruit is what the mind anticipates, it is called 'record' (kāraṇa/ci); when holy words confer it, it is called 'bestowing' (vyā/shou). Vyākaraṇa is of two kinds: if conferring the vyākaraṇa of buddhahood upon bodhisattvas, this is vyākaraṇa in the Mahāyāna. If predicting near causes and near fruits, this is prophecy in the Hīnayāna.
