7.118

以三義故，知諸涅槃迹而非本，今始入故，入復出故，拂中間故。此迹涅槃皆從本垂，云何執迹謂言是本？是不識迹本也。若拂迹顯本，則二義不迷。非迹非本，不思議一也。

By the three meanings, one knows that all these nirvāṇas are traces and not the original source: because they are now first entered, because after entering they emerge again, and because intermediate ones are brushed away. These trace nirvāṇas are all projected from the original source; how could one cling to the traces and say they are the original source? That would be failing to recognize traces and original source. If one brushes away the traces and reveals the original source, then one is not confused about the two meanings. Neither trace nor original source—the inconceivable is one.
