Section 6: Examining in terms of the three periods of time. The text states: 'The Tathāgata's power of sovereign supernatural penetration, the Tathāgata's power of great formidable might, the Tathāgata's power of the lion's sprint.' These are texts concerning the benefiting of beings across the three periods of time. If the provisional and real dharmas first realized in the past are called the 'original source', then after the original realization, one subsequently employs expedient means to convert others. When one opens the three and reveals the one, or discloses the traces and reveals the original source, this points back to the very first as the original source; intermediate manifestations that disclose traces and reveal the original source also point to the very first as the original source; today's disclosing of traces and revealing of the original source also points to the very first as the original source; and future disclosures of the original source and revelations of traces will also point to the very first as the original source. Though the three periods of time differ, Vairocana is one original source without distinction, just as a hundred thousand branches and leaves all lead back to a single root (and so forth).
