This admits of four propositions: the wondrous that carries the coarse is the distinctive teaching; the wondrous that does not carry the coarse is the perfect teaching; the coarse that carries the wondrous is the shared teaching; the coarse that does not carry the wondrous is the tripiṭaka teaching. Furthermore, the wondrous that carries the coarse is like the shared; the wondrous that does not carry the coarse is like the perfect; that which both carries the coarse and does not carry the coarse is like the distinctive; that which neither carries nor does not carry [the coarse] is like the perfect connecting to the distinctive, or the perfect and distinctive connecting to the shared. Furthermore, in terms of the five flavors: the coarse that does not carry the wondrous is like curd; the wondrous that does not carry the coarse is like clarified butter; that which both carries the coarse and does not carry the coarse is like raw and cooked butter; that which neither carries the coarse nor does not carry the coarse is like milk (and so forth).
