二、明本果妙者，本初所行圓妙之因，契得究竟常、樂、我、淨，乃是本果。不取寂滅道場，舍那成佛，為本果也。尚不取中間之果以為本果，況舍那始成云何是本？但取成佛已來，甚大久遠，初證之果，名本果妙也。

Second, clarifying the subtlety of the original fruition: the round and subtle cause originally practiced tallied with the ultimate permanence, bliss, self, and purity—this is the original fruition. It does not take Vairocana's attainment of buddhahood at the seat of quiet extinction as the original fruition. It does not even take the intermediate fruition as the original fruition; how could Vairocana's initial attainment be the original source? It only takes the fruition first realized since attaining buddhahood in the extremely distant past, which is named the subtlety of the original fruition.
