二、本門力用，例為十意。若扶文便，應言開近顯遠。若取義便，應言本迹，秖呼近為迹、遠為本，名異義同。所言十者：

Second, the powers and functions of the original source gate are likewise patterned into ten meanings. If following the convenience of the text, one should say 'opening the near and revealing the distant.' If taking the convenience of the meaning, one should say 'original source and traces'; it is simply calling the near 'traces' and the distant 'original source'—the names differ but the meaning is the same.
